Here is some good new for celiac and gluten intolerant students on college campuses! The Gluten-Free Badgers are a new club at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and is the only registered student organization that addresses the dietary needs of students.
President Christy Dimond and faculty adviser Barb Kautz formed the group in October after both were diagnosed with celiac disease. College can be a tough place to eat gluten-free (late night pizza binges and beer bring back memories?) and the clubs aim is to support each other while raising awareness about gluten intolerance on campus. It can also be a haven for incoming students who want to connect with others for whom watching what they eat is a way of life.
Let's hope that other like minded students take up the initiative on campuses all over the country!! Read all about it at: http://www.news.wisc.edu/19265
